Ready for a laugh?

HELLO! Sorry for disappearing, but after the car drama, I wasn't up for blogging, and after that, it was just a whole lot of other stuff to do during the weekends. But now I'm back, I have a long weekend because of Anzac day tomorrow, and I'm ready to reveal my story! Brace yourselves, you may end up laughing so much it hurts.....

So, when the accident happened on Saturday, I had the car less than a week, Terrence's friend had driven the car way past the 80,000 km mark, and it was due for a major service, so I had it booked at the service centre. Terrence and I left the house about 7.40am that morning, I was driving my new car, and he was following me behind in his car, so we could go home after dropping off my car. Hmmm....can I hear some, Oh no, don't tell me!!!!!! LOL. So, anyways, he was driving behind me, we had probably driven for about 10-15 minutes and were already 3/4 of the way there. We were on a major road, and needed to turn right onto another major road to get to the service centre. So, as I was nearing the turn, the traffic light went yellow, I probably would have made it through, but I was thinking, I need to wait for Terrence, so I stopped. Unbeknownst to me, Terrence was speeding up trying to catch me, thinking that I was gonna go THROUGH the light, and BAM! He hit me. Yep, you heard (or read) right, the person who rear-ended me was Terrence, LOL. He was already braking hard, but he still hit me pretty hard, so I was rolling across the intersection onto the other main road. Luckily, it was early on a Saturday morning, otherwise I think it could have been a lot worse.

So, when he hit me, I was pretty much stunned. I saw him coming, I felt the impact, like I said in my previous post, I got whiplash pretty bad, my head and neck was hurting, and the whole time I was just thinking, this is not happening, this is not happening. It was kinda surreal, like a bad dream that you just want to wake up from and have it disappear. I was really worried that Terrence would be angry with me, but he was more concerned about me and wanted to make sure that I was okay. The cars were pretty smashed up, but we could still drive them, so we got off the road, and parked somewhere while we figured out what to do. The first place I rang was the insurance company, but it wasn't open that early. This was the first time either of us had been in an accident, and I was kinda in shock and didn't know what else to do. I wanted to make sure that we did everything by the book so that we won't have any other issues, so I rang up the police. The policeman who spoke to me on the phone was really nice, he was asking if everyone was okay, if we needed an ambulance and all that. Then he asked me if I had the other driver's details and each other's information, and I was like, uh, actually, it was my partner who hit me. And he just BURST OUT laughing on the phone, going, are you serious?! And I gave him the story on the phone, and he was still chuckling throughout. Like I said, looking back at it, it is pretty funny, and I was kinda laughing then, although probably in a semi-traumatised way, LOL. So anyways, he just said, well, as long as everybody is okay, he said it should be alright, we just had to go home first, and ring up the insurance company when they opened.

Everything is alright at the moment, Terrence's car is with the repairer at the moment, once his is done, then mine will go in, and everything will be back to normal. Everything went well with the insurance company, they didn't have as big a reaction as the policeman, so maybe it isn't that uncommon. It is quite a bizarre situation, but I would think it should be a fairly common incident with couples, I mean, once you're out there on the roads, you're subject to the same conditions that may cause an accident. We have to pay an excess (technically Terrence's but we pay for stuff together anyways) and his rating will be affected when it's time for renewal, but apart from that, we are okay and will be okay. I recovered from the whiplash after a few days and I feel perfectly fine by now. When I told my family and colleagues the story, they couldn't stop laughing, it's nice to know I have support huh? *grin*

That is pretty much the full story, I'm long-winded enough, and if I gave you anymore details I think I would put everyone to sleep. I do have some pictures, but I don't really want to post them online until the cars have been repaired, so if you do want to check them out, just pop me an e-mail and I'll send you the link. Thanks for all the best wishes, I'm fine and doing more than okay, thank you so much for caring! This is quite a story, and one to tell the future kids and grandkids, it will be part of my legacy, LOL. Well, I hope I have provided some amusement for the day, but I definitely hope that I don't have any similar stories to share in the near future.

I was wondering why there was a picture of TWO cars and now I know! This for sure is a story for the grandkids. Glad everyone is okay! and glad to see you back! hugs, debbi
