Big week ahead...

Things are just cruising along, although I do have a fairly big week ahead of me. I had my hair cut today, which is a big thing for me, as I usually cut my hair once a year, LOL. Although this is my 2nd haircut in 3 months, so that's pretty good for me! Tomorrow, Terrence and I have an appointment after work to donate blood, it took a lot of convincing, but I finally managed to get him to come along with me! On Wednesday, it's my birthday, another year older! *sob* We won't be doing much, I'm still working that day, so we're just having Thai for dinner after work. On Thursday, I may possibly be watching a movie with a colleague, she has free tickets to Saw III. I have a work function/celebration on Friday night, and depending on whether I get my waitlisted flight, I head off to (South) Korea for work either midnight Friday or Saturday morning! Phew, it's a big one alright! I'll be gone for a week and won't get back till the Saturday after, so I'll probably be totally worn out after all that travelling, especially since there aren't any direct flights, I will be flying through Singapore. Which is kinda good, as I get to see my family, even if just for a few hours. Better than nothing!

I also had quite a fun day yesterday. I took a day trip with some friends out to Sorrento in Victoria. It's down the bay, so it's like a nice little coastal town out of the city. Despite having been here for about 7 years now, it was my first time there, so it was lots of fun! I had the yummiest grilled fish, and then we had vanilla slices, which the town is famous for. It was really more custard than vanilla slice, I reckon, but definitely still delicious! We checked out a couple of galleries then just walked by the beach and parks around. Afterwards, we headed to another area nearby called Cape Schank, again another place that I have never been for, so it was really great to see something new, and the scenery was awesome, here are some pictures!

A picture of the coastline.

This is the massive boardwalk down to the rockpool; as I am so unfit, I was so exhausted by the time I got back up!

A picture of the rockpool when we reached the bottom.

The other thing that I got done over the weekend was the sorting of my hand-dyed threads. I still have Crescent Colours to sort out (I ran out of Floss-A-Way bags!), but I don't have many of those, so that won't take me long once I get to it. I stuck to my not-so-smart way of arranging threads as I couldn't come up with anything else better, but I guess it's still some kind of system. So, as in the picture below, I've got my WDW and GAST threads arranged in groups in alphabetical order; Six Strand Sweets by themselves in a box, but arranged in alphabetical order with rings; and all "others" in a box by themselves. I'm currently just using cheapo post-it notes to mark my boxes, but I'll get nice labels made up to identify the threads. The boxes I used are clear plastic boxes meant for shoes, but they work pretty well for threads! LOL. I haven't finished organising my DMC or Anchor threads, but those were never the problem anyway, so I'm pretty pleased with what I've done. Next thing is to get a box for my fabrics!

Well, that's it from me for now. I need to get to bed as I'm still recovering from all that walking I did on Sunday! LOL. At least I got some exercise, hee hee... I hope everyone has a great week ahead! (^_^)

Stash Sorting

I'm stuck in a 'meh' stage; not feeling that great but not completely bummed out either. Work has been affecting my mood, more so than I would like. I try to not think about it and not let it affect me, but it's easier said than done. I really hope things will pick up or I can do something about my situation.

But anyways, enough with my whinging, let's get to my little stash sorting adventure! Thanks for the suggestions that people have left for me, I'm still not done yet, so any clever ideas, feel free to send them my way! So, as you can tell from my picture, my magazines are almost all sorted. I'm just short of the clear magazine files, so I need to get a couple more and I can get rid of the blue one to have them all consistent. I also arranged my chart leaflets and some of my kits into those plastic sleeves and filed them into lever arch files, these are the gray and blue files on the 3rd shelf. The other coloured files hold some of my DMC threads, I always had them that way. I also unwrapped my Mount Forest Frameworks frames; I had bubbled-wrapped them when I moved. That's probably not going to be their permanent spot, but they will sit there for now.

What I haven't done is organise my fabrics and overdyed threads. For fabrics, I think I will just buy a storage box and then put them in there. Those don't have to be too organised, that's easy enough to rummage through. As for the threads, I still haven't come up with an efficient way of storing them! I initially thought of keeping them in boxes and just arrange them in groups by thread colour, like A-C together, D-F etc. However, I still don't think it's the smartest thing to do, if I were looking for, say WDW's Cocoa, I still essentially need to dump all the threads from that box to get that colour. Sigh, there's got to be something easier, anyone has some bright ideas for me? Btw, I use Floss-A-Way bags, so at least they won't get tangled together when I dump them all together in a box. I used to ring them up in groups in alphabetical order and stuck them on a cork board, but I don't like how the bags gathered dust - it's a lot easier to dust boxes than little floss bags! Besides, I don't really want to stick up a whole row of cork boards in the lounge room, it didn't bother me before when we used to rent, but now everything has to look right! Hee hee...

So yeah, that's how I've progressed so far, not much, but at least I've done something! Once again, suggestions are welcome, if you've got some great organising system that you use, let me know about it! In the meantime, I still need to put my threads away in their Floss-A-Way bags, I still have a stack of WDW threads that I haven't labelled! *yikes* Off to get busy...

A quickie!

Just a super quick update before I dash off - Terrence is yelling at me to get to bed, he knows that I have an early start at work tomorrow! Anyways, this is My Garden Wild by 4 My Boys. I changed the colours completely, I hoped my colour choices worked! I used threads by Six Strand Sweets, aren't they yummy? This is for an RR that I'm a part of (and I'm horribly way past the deadline *yikes*), it's not complete yet, just a bit more on the right, but I will post another updated picture when I'm finished and of the whole piece itself. Anyways, just wanted to share a pic since I haven't blogged in a while, let me know what you think! :)

PS. I will also let you know how my stash sorting went in the next post, and if you have any suggestions, keep 'em coming!
